A major new accommodation development at Bingara Gorge has secured approval from Wollondilly Shire Council, paving the way for a boutique hotel that will serve as a new tourism and leisure destination for South West Sydney.
Hotelier Feros Group has purchased a 2,500 square metre site adjoining the Bingara Gorge Country Club at Wilton and will oversee the development and operation of the hotel and accompanying pub.
The approved plans include 49 guest rooms in a mix of configurations to cater for families, couples and corporate visitors, along with a private gymnasium, pool, health and beauty services, and retail space.
The accommodation precinct, designed by H&E Architects, will form a contemporary extension of the Country Club, which sits on 7,280 square metres overlooking the golf course and caters for 800–1000 people.
The Club itself will feature a family bistro and bar, beer garden, sports bar, large children’s play area and multiple function spaces.
Luke Hartman, Managing Director at Metro Property Development, said the hotel approval was a significant milestone in the community’s construction pipeline and an important step for the region.
“The accommodation precinct will provide a much-needed option in a region where hotel supply is limited, while also ensuring the community can host relatives, friends and business travellers,” said Hartman.
“With Western Sydney International Airport, new schools, shopping precincts and major new roads underway, this investment reinforces Bingara Gorge’s location at the epicentre of a rapidly growing area.”
He added that Bingara Gorge has several further projects in development.
“Bingara Gorge continues to provide exceptional amenity for residents and visitors to the Wilton area with several new projects in the pipeline for delivery.
“They include opening more golf holes for play, a Coles-anchored shopping complex, playgrounds, Condell Park Homestead and a mountain bike track.”
Feros Group Chief Executive Chris Feros said the planned hotel aligns with the Country Club’s leisure, food and beverage offering.
“This project is about creating a destination for the community and broader region. Whether it is hosting wedding guests, golfers, event attendees or visitors simply looking to explore Wilton and its surrounds, the hotel will fill a critical gap in the market,” said Feros.
“We see the Country Club as a place where people can stay, socialise and celebrate in one of Sydney’s idyllic communities.”
Architect Chris Grinham, Director at H&E Architects, described the project as both functional and environmentally responsive.
“It is a sophisticated, environmentally responsive design that enhances both the Country Club and the wider Bingara Gorge community,” said Grinham.
“The architecture is designed to meld with the bushland setting and neighbouring amenities – Pulse Fitness Club and the Country Club, with a vernacular style exterior design and use of recycled brickwork to assist the building to sit comfortably within the landscape and alongside the golf course.”
He noted its northern orientation takes advantage of views across the golf course, while materials such as black cladding, recycled brickwork, louvres and corrugated iron roofing connect the hotel’s design to its landscape and local heritage.
“Inspired by the area’s rural heritage, we have adopted a refined corrugated iron aesthetic and used louvres for shading and privacy in-between the rooms,” said Grinham.
“Solar panels and rainwater harvesting will help reduce its environmental footprint.
“The pool and breakout spaces flow naturally to the golf course, with scenic vistas over the national park.”
Wollondilly Shire Council CEO Ben Taylor welcomed the project as a benefit to both residents and the visitor economy.
“This is positive news for Wilton and the wider Wollondilly community,” said Taylor.
“The Country Club and accommodation will not only give residents a wonderful new place to socialise and host family and friends but also provide a boost for tourism and jobs in the region.
“As our community grows, these types of facilities are important to complement all the wonderful attractions, unique businesses and exciting events happening across our beautiful shire.”
He thanked community members for their feedback on the proposal.
“Thank you to the community for your submissions into the development application which were important in getting this right and to the great team at Council that has helped make this project a reality,” said Taylor.
The Bingara Gorge Country Club is expected to open in early 2026, with construction of the hotel scheduled to commence in late 2027.
The broader Bingara Gorge masterplan already features more than 200 hectares of open space, playgrounds, tennis courts, retail and education facilities alongside its championship golf course.
